Apparently some online retailer posted the images of the coming M10 core set intro packs. Look at them here at the MTG Salvation forums or here at MTG Realm. You can also find some of the booster pack and booster box art, as well as the packaging for the M10 fat pack.
Speculation on the amazing new Big Green Monster, White Paladin and Blue Genie is in overdrive. Art discussions have begun. Frankly, every time I see a bad-ass monster, the card always ends up sucking. That black demon on the booster pack is probably a 5/5 with flying which requires you to remove half of your library from the game during your upkeep. Yes, I know they will never do this kind of drawback in a core set. In fact, I heard this one will be especially kid friendly. I guess they won’t be reprinting Dark Confidant this time.
I am, however, curious to see what the ghostly lady floating on the back of the booster box is. Probably some shitty muse. Sad.
For me, core sets are never that interesting because they are geared towards newer players, for the most part. Yes, you can get some cool staples, but most of the cards are there to teach new players how to play. A giant green monster is cool to a new player, but they’re not very exciting to competitive players. Enticing new players definitelyneeds to be done. Sure, we all know anything witha CC over 4 is generally crap, but hey, we don’t tell kids how much “real life” sucks until at least high school, right? I definitely think we shouldn’t let the kids see how countermagic works . If I wasn’t in love with things like Force of Nature, Spined Wurm and Homarids back in 5th Edition, I wouldn’t be pulling my hair out over this game today.
I am sure, since WotC has decided to snare in people like me with new cards, something cool will come out of the set. The black and white knights are exciting. Excellent two drops, for sure. Who needs lifelink when you’ve got pro-black. Take that Faeries and or BW tokens!
